White Card – Construction Induction (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)
Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry, also known as the “White Card” course for Victoria, is designed to give you essential knowledge and skills to safely navigate construction environments. It is mandatory for all job roles on construction sites. .
This course covers:
- duty of care
- legal requirements
- key safety principles
- keeping yourself and others safe
- hazard identification on construction sites
- risk control measures
- use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- safety signs & symbols
- health and safety documentation
- procedures for reporting incident, hazards and injuries
- responding to incidents and emergencies
This is a 6-hour course delivered face-to-face on our Monash Clayton campus.
The training will include:
- a powerpoint presentation by an industry professional
- group discussions
- Question & Answer time
- hands-on, practical activities
All materials are provided in this Monash white card course. We provide all safety equipment necessary for your course including hi-vis vest and hard-hats where applicable.
You will be given safety glasses and hearing protection that are yours to keep.
MSA Training and Professional Development has undergone an accreditation process by WorkSafe Victoria to deliver this Monash white card training.
White Card Certification
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment which can be used as evidence of completion until your hardcopy Victorian white card is posted to you by WorkSafe Victoria.
The nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit CPCWHS1001 is recognised throughout Australia.

Concession Eligibility
To be eligible for the concession price for short courses and Certificate & Diploma (Non-Funded only), you must be one of the following:
Monash and other students
Monash Staff
Monash Alumni
Health Care Card and Pension Card holders
All employees who work on a construction site must successfully complete this mandatory course.
Certificates will be issued electronically within 48 hours after successful completion of the training which will allow you to work in the construction industry for up for 60 days while you await your White Card. White Cards are sent directly by WorkSafe Victoria and may take up to 4 weeks to be sent to you.
Once issued, a Victorian White Card remains valid indefinitely. This unit of competency does not require an update or refresher at this stage.

Graham is also skilled in using Zoom and Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. As the director and owner of an active small residential property development business, he combines hands-on industry experience with a strong commitment to outstanding customer service and focus.

Tyler Blackburn
Tyler Blackburn is a highly motivated and experienced professional with 18 years of combined expertise in the construction, oil and gas, and mining industries. Throughout his career, Tyler has developed a deep understanding of industry operations, safety protocols, and project management. His diverse background has equipped him with the skills to effectively lead teams, streamline processes, and implement innovative solutions in complex environments. Tyler is dedicated to driving success and fostering growth within his field, making him a valuable asset.
You will need sufficient spoken and written English to be able to undertake this course. This will be assessed as part of the enrolment process.
Students are required to bring photo ID on the day of the course – those who are unable to produce photo ID on the day will be turned away without a refund. Suitable photo ID includes:
- Australian driver licence
- Victorian learner permit
- Proof of age card
- Victorian marine licence
- Keypass digital ID
- Keypass card
- Australian or foreign passport

Wear enclosed shoes.
Bring a notebook and pen.
Students must be based in Australia and have a USI.
Please arrive 15 minutes early. It is a WorkSafe Victoria requirement that you attend the entire session. Latecomers will be turned away and are not eligible for a refund or transfer.

Credit Transfers (CT)
Credit Transfer is a process used to recognise qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other RTO or TAFE. If you have successfully completed any of the units in the course in which you are enrolling, or their equivalent, you may be eligible for credit transfer. Where credit transfer is granted you will be considered to have already successfully completed the unit(s), and will not have to participate in training or assessment activities for that unit(s). In determining where credit transfer may be granted, MSA Training and Professional Development must be confident of the currency of the applicant’s knowledge. In fields where practice/technology is changing rapidly, credit transfer may not be granted where knowledge of unit(s) has dated.
MSA Training and Professional Development will recognise AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any RTO.
