AUSLAN Introduction

Ever wanted to learn sign language? Auslan Introduction (Australian Sign Language) is the native language of many Deaf people and the primary language of many others who have learned it later in life. It is part of the culture of the Deaf community and is recognised as a community language. As a visual-gestural language, Auslan uses hand, arm and body movements to convey meaning and has its own grammatical system that is different to that of the English language. Being able to communicate with Deaf people is a great skill to have and is particularly useful for those working in the health, community services and education sectors. This course is held at Monash University, Clayton campus. Our Auslan courses are interactive, engaging and lots of fun.
