TAE40116 vs TAE40122
TAE40116 vs TAE40122
The qualification:
TAE40116 and TAE40122 are two different versions of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. In November 2022, the Australian Industry Skills Committee (ASIC) endorsed and approved the TAE40122. This means the TAE40116 will be replaced by TAE40122 over the next two years, until TAE40122 is the only version offered at RTO’s and TAFEs. Many students are curious about the differences and similarities between these qualifications and the upcoming changes. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all the details on both qualifications.
Units of competency:
The main difference lies in the units of competency included in each version. TAE40122 includes additional units and updated content to align with current industry standards and practices. TAE40116 consists of 10 units of competency (9 core and 1 elective), whereas TAE40122 consists of 12 units of competency (6 core and 6 elective). The specific units and content covered in TAE40122 vary from TAE40116, reflecting the evolving needs and expectations of the training and assessment industry.
Assessment differences:
The assessment requirements for specific units have been significantly heightened when compared to those of the TAE40116. When completing oral presentation assessments, it is imperative that they are conducted in a face-to-face setting. This applies to Virtual and E-learning students as well, who are required to have access to four adult learners for conducting their 3x 30 minute group training sessions, along with two additional adult learners for their 2x 30 minute individual training sessions. Additionally, Virtual and E-learning students must possess the capability to record video footage of their training sessions and upload these recordings to the student portal.
Superseded:
The TAE40116 is currently equivalent to TAE40122, despite it being phased out from the Nationally Recognised Training world. This means that students with the TAE40116 are still able to obtain the same jobs as those with the new TAE40122. Students with the TAE40116 will not be required to upgrade their qualification yet, and their qualification will remain Nationally Recognised. So don’t panic if you’re completing/ just completed your TAE40116- Your workplace opportunities are still available!
